Tips for a Stunning Pregnancy Photo Shoot

1. Love your body
Showing self-love, kindness and acceptance are the best ways to loving your body; practicing meditation every day can help with this too. Feeding our bodies plenty of greens and a healthy diet will help keep us glowing also. All you have to do is show up with a smile and let Milk Intimates Photography take care of your hair and makeup and style the rest, it’s that simple!
2. Location or studio
Have a look through our maternity galleries, and don’t forget Instagram either, to see which pregnancy photos stand out to you the most. Do you have a special connection to a chosen location? If so, and it’s relatively private, send us some photos so we can get a feel and see if it’s the right fit.
Sarah has many private locations she recommends, also some beautiful Airbnbs which are set up for pregnancy photoshoots. Keeping in mind if we do an outdoor maternity photography session, it needs to be done an hour before sunset for the perfect lighting.
Milk Intimates Photography also has a boutique photography studio located in Kohimarama. This is a great option if you prefer to be indoors and want privacy for your maternity photography session. You can also explore some of the different coloured backdrops.
3. Choose outfits that really show off your body
Regardless of your size, shape or breast size, choose outfits that really accentuate your bump and fit your body well. Lace is always really nice to work with; it’s all about a hint of everything. Try bringing a range of natural, organic coloured underwear; these can go nicely with an oversized shirt. I offer dresses and beautiful sheer fabrics for all of my maternity clients. These can be tried on prior to your maternity photography session.
4. Get your hair and makeup done
Choose this time in your pregnancy to pamper yourself! We offer only the best makeup artists, to get an example of their work just have a look through our pregnancy photos. Having your hair and makeup done means we are 80% of the way there already. We suggest going as natural as possible for makeup, it’s all in the hair!
