I have quite a few hotels up my sleeve when clients want something a bit different from their boudoir photo shoot.

I’ve spent a lot of time on websites finding the best boudoir locations in Auckland and other parts of New Zealand too. The benefit of using a different space just means a different look and mood for the photos. It’s also an opportunity for you to celebrate a night out/staycation in luxury.

I work in the Convent Hotel in Grey Lynn quite a bit (as seen in this blog post What is Bridal Boudoir?) –  I like how unique some of the rooms are. This particular shoot had a beautiful patio which was great to use; it’s nice to be able to work with different backgrounds and have the indoor/outdoor flow.

To help with your plans I have compiled a list of my favourite hotels in Auckland.

My favourite Hotels in Auckland are:

1. The Park Hyatt

A bit on the pricey side, but is an amazing 5 star hotel – especially for a staycation! The day spa is exceptional and ‘Onemata’ is divine – a fine dining restaurant on the ground floor.

2. The Convent Hotel

Reasonably priced (although it is important to book in advance). There are specific rooms here to book so always speak to me first before booking to receive a discount too. There’s an amazing restaurant in the building called Ada, a must do! (Pets are allowed too). My favourite rooms are Mother Superior, Chapel Room and The Sacristy.

3. The QT hotel

Speak to me about the look of these rooms, as there are some examples on my website. The rooms are quite small, but work well with colour, and a great rooftop bar too!

4. Air bnbs

Lastly there are some amazing Air bnbs out there – as seen in this blog post- this was photographed in Wellington at a dreamy airbnb. Spend some time finding something unique with beautiful finishing touches, or reach out to Sarah she has a bunch!

Share the expense

Maybe get a friend to pitch in for the room and make it a girls night out, or you could both do a boudoir shoot separately? Or a staycation for just you and or your partner which is also a great idea for an anniversary surprise!

Bridal boudoir portraits are the ultimate, unique wedding gift for your loved one!

It’s a chance to liberate and empower yourself; boost your confidence so you feel ready to pose on your wedding day too.

Putting on pretty lingerie and strutting your stuff may seem intimidating, but with the right attitude—and the right boudoir photographer—a boudoir photo shoot can be an empowering and amazing experience, and it’s a gift your spouse will never forget.

This maybe a gift for him, but the experience is for you!

Five reasons why you should consider a pre-wedding boudoir session:

1. To celebrate you.

A boudoir photography photo- shoot is a great way to celebrate yourself, to create some amazing photos to look back on, in years to come. I have seen the incredible confidence transformation that it gives brides-to-be. When your partner opens these beautiful portraits of you, it’s a reminder of what the day is all about.

2. To make you feel empowered.

A boudoir shoot is a great way to boost your self-confidence before your wedding.  Sure, getting your picture taken while posing in lingerie may seem intimidating, but with the right boudoir photographer and attitude, it can be a totally liberating experience!

3. It’s an excuse to go lingerie shopping & pamper yourself.

Between securing the venue, caterer, band etc (the list goes on and on…) planning your wedding can be all-consuming. Sometimes a bride-to-be just needs a break. And what better way to spend some well-deserved downtime than lingerie shopping? After all, you’re going to need a few pretty little things for your wedding night & honeymoon anyway.

4. It makes a great gift for your partner.

The love of your life sees you at your best and your worst and still loves you and thinks you’re gorgeous. Imagine their reaction when you surprise them with an album of boudoir photos the morning of your wedding day! It’s a gift that will get you both excited for your wedding night & make your day that much more special too!

5. To make you more comfortable in front of the camera.

A boudoir photography session is an intimate experience between a client and her photographer, requiring a lot of guidance, trust & planning.

You photograph best when you’re confident and feeling sexy- this is where we come in.
